Why not just wait till you get the engine to do the ecu swap, I doubt your gonna get benifts from trying to run a vtec ecu on a non-vtec engine, it'll definitely throw VTEC codes and probably a knock sensor code, I don't think the h23 has a knock sensor does it? Basically I don't think it's worth it to swap it out now. But you can try if ya want, and let us know how it goes,
you could..... who knows it might work, the h22 ecu will only allow it to rev to 6700 when there is a vtec related check engine light.. as for the 4ws there are some jdm p13's that have a extra plug that we figger is either for 4ws or traction control.???
I have a stock h23 ecu leftover after my swap...I'll sell it to you real cheap if you need it...As for the vtec ecu like everyone said I think it would def'n throw codes!!

I think we can confirm that the 4th plug is for TCS, like in the VAFC manuals and crap, they have the drawings for the ECU pinouts, and there is one for the regular lude and the other is for the lude with TCS, and the one with TCS has 4 plugs drawn.
Hey how much are you gonna sell that p14 for? I know someone that is very interested. Thanks.

Hey so the h23s have a knock sensor huh? Is it the JDM f22B taht doesn't have one? That's what I am confused about, trying to use a p14 on a f22b, would it work?
Originally posted by suger I have a 94 SI 4WS, my question is this. Is it possible to swap out my soock ECU unit with a 4th gen Vtec ECU now.
I am planning on swaping the stock engine with a H22A but not until next year.
It will not work.
The h22 has an internal coil, the h23 external.
Besides the fact that the car would forever be in "limp home" mode (becouse of missing vtec sensors) it might not even spark.
When you get your h22, use the wiring harness and distrubiter from the h23 and everything will be ok
If you have anymore 4WS/VTEC questions, hit me up on AIM or MSNIM
The H23 does have a knock sensor, I even broke it while I was trying to get the connector off of it. You can use the P13 ECU, it's basically the same as the P14 except for the VTEC, though you'll have to run your car with a CEL on all the time since the VTEC stuff won't be connected, when I swapped my engine I put the P13 in it but I didn't connect the VTEC solenoid nor the oil pressure switch so I had a CEL and the car would only rev up to ~6500RPM or around the same redline as a H23.
But I thought it was your ABS computer that was fried? Is your ECU fried too?

I have both engines presently........ My car is a JDM spec (Right hand drive) and was origially Si. It had no knock sensor or the neccessary wire on the harness for it . I later did a H22 swap and thats when I had to run three additional wires (oil press. sens.,knock sen, vtec sel.) back to the ecu. Its ok to go ahead using the vtec ecu on the Si engine but you will be throwing codes for these three units.
