ECU Question for JDM H22

My friend Eddie has a 96 Lude S with a 95 JDM H22 running off his f22 ecu and he is broke to the point that it has been this way for months now. I have been searching for him for a cheaper ecu, none in sight other then around $450-600 for the OBDII h2 ecu, so with out getting the hondata obdII to obdI harness to run a p13, can he use a 96-up Teg gsr ecu and still run everything right/safe?

yes he can use a p72 ecu.... but he will most deffinatly need a vafc and if he can afford it some sort of timing controler..... the low cam on the h22 is too big for the p72 and it makes less HP than having a p13 till arould 5500-6000 rpm then the p72 will make a little more hp. by the time he pays for a obd2 p72 and a vafc he has bought the obd2 p13. but he should have the p13 from his swap so the adapter harness would probably be the cheapest route

No p13 came with the swap, it was not a very complete motor. Sounds like the obdII p13 is the cheapest, seafest route.

I got a JDM H22 ECU with the JUN chip in it off of Ebay for $200. Since then it has been running fine and pulls also harder, it is still OBD 1 so it worked out nicely.

Sounds like a great plan until you add the cost off the OBDII to OBDI harness.
