ECU/motor Swap question

My friend has a 96 Prelude S and recently swaped an obdI h22a1 in and needs and obdII ecu for the motor so he can hit vtec. So my question is will and ecu from and h22a4 work allright? We swaped an obdII sohc 96 Civic vtec ecu in and hit vtec and the motor functioned properly, so I'm thinking the h22a4 ecu will work. What do you think? Thanks for any help you can render.

I think it will work but throw some sort of code because the distributor is different.. I'm not sure unfortunately! Also the OBD2 ECU wants to see two O2 meters, one before and one after the cat.

The car is a 96 so it is already wired for obd2, so the existing sensors should be okay ? ?
I thought it wanted one after the manifold and one in the cat. Distributor though, good point, anyone have any more input on the distributor?

You could feasibly just put a OBDI ECU in, however, you need an adapter harness for it.

If you stick with the OBDII ECU, then you need to find a 96 P13 ECU only. The 97+ ECU's have the imobilizer in them and to my knowledge can not be bypassed.

As Kev Mentioned, it would be easiest to use an OBD II dizzy....
