how can you tell if an ECU is VTEC or not? is there a way to tell with the serial number on it?

Yea, the part number itself will tell you whats its for.

P14 = Prelude Non-Vtec
P13 = Prelude Vtec

Gimme the part number and i'll tell you whats it for.

the part number is 37820-P13-A10 so it's a VTEC right?

I talked to my Honda guy, the p/n doesn't come up in the computer, but we both agree its for a Prelude VTEC.

Was this from a JDM motor?

well I don't know from what car it comes. I bought it from a scrap yard but the guy couldn't tell me if it was from a Prelude base model or a VTEC but since I had called like a week before the guy told me they had one for a 93 Prelude SR-V (that's the canadian name for the VTEC, that's probably why it didn't show up on the computer) and that it was the only one they had there so I said to the guy to ship it anyway and I just received it so I wanted to make sure it was a VTEC ECU
