Ebay turbo kits?

i was telling my mechanic that i wanted to turbo he told me i was better of buying an eBay kit and swapping the turbo for a better brand but using the included inter cooler blow off valves etc.
What your take on this it would be cheaper but longevity?

1. find a new mechanic
2. don't buy a turbo unless you are ready to throw some serious money into it. Like around 7-8grand because you need a lot more help than just piecing together a turbo kit.

Ebay turbo kits are great... long as you don't use the turbo that comes with them! They are made from cheap pot-metal and will fall apart & destroy your motor.

Don't be like those Civic guys...

I think i may love you.. i hate honda civics lol.. but i agree and have been told the kit isnt bad itself, just the turbo. if you want to do it right then i agree its gonna take alot of money. but i think youd be fine if you swapped the turbo, a couple things you gotta remember when boosting is,

1) its alot of stress on your internals if there stock depending on your boost.
ive heard up to 10 psi is fine but idk how good your tranny will hold up.
2) you need a very good tune..
3) you need to upgrade fuel
