Dumb question about Fuel Filter...

I really feel like doing something to my engine right now but I have no cash for a big mod. Since my fuel filter is needs replacing I guess I'll try that.

Is it that thing on the firewall? somewhat behind the throttle body?

I read someones post a couple of days ago about replacing it and it sounds easy, I just need to locate it lol. Also, does the AEM one do anything for me? or is it mainly for FI?

thanks a lot.

Yeah, that black thing with a [banjo] bolt on top. On most car I've worked on, replacing it is a matter of unscrewing the bolt on top and removing the top cap and removing the filter. I haven't changed mine either so maybe I need to do it to. Make sure that you unscrew your gas cap to release the pressure in your system first.

NEbody else has a say on this?

Hope it helps!

Oh ok, how much fuel is going to be spraying in my face? I just detailed my engine bay.. should I put a little bowl under it to catch some of the fuel? or should I be fine...

Thanks about the comment on mah car by the way. I can't really see yours hehehe, but yah man, white 4g's look really good.

As far as the pressure, like I said unscrew the gas cap to release the pressure (if it is hot out but it wouldn't hurt if you did otherwise). For safety measures, yes use a catch can.

It's a good idea to change it when you do any major tune up. I try to do it about once every 15 months

Yes you are replacing the whole unit

If your doing this outside you don't need a catch can, as long as you release the pressure you should only get about 4tbl spoons of gas dripping /leaking out. It will all evaporate by the time your done anyways.

Hondaautomotiveparts has a pic of the filter and all associated parts on their website. Check it out

Good thing our fuel filters are easy to reach. I tried to change it out on my friend's Accord (1994) but it was a pain in the ass since it was all the way down on the back of the engine on the driver's side? Have you ever looked down a Honda on that part of the engine bay? NO ROOM! Can't get no wrench under that MF.

Anyway, just sharing.
