Ground Control Coilovers are about your only option for an inch drop. Most of the springs for the prelude drop 1.3 or 1.4 before going to 1.8 or so. You could drop your car an inch on coilovers and stock struts. It isn't really advised to do so. But many people have done it.

Then if you decide later you want a more aggressive drop(which I'm sure will happen) then you can just drop it with some different struts.

I had GC coilovers on KYB AGX struts and I loved it

I say you just save up for a spring/shock combo, instead of being too anxious and end up blowin something out. Hey, my car looks like a 4x4, and that's okay for now, cuz sooner or later it won't, but I'm NOT gonna drop it on the stock shocks.
