Dropping my Lude, concerns

Hey guys,

I am thinking about dropping my '95 but I have a few concerns.

I am thinking about Neuspeed Sports or maybe Eibach Pro-kits.

My question is, do you guys think any kind of camber correction is nessesary. That is one of the only things holding me back from dropping it. I am also worried about my stock shocks with these springs. Would you suggest I get some Koni's or Tokico's (sp?) or just run my stockers until they croak?

I am not very rich since I did just finish my H22 swap so money is a serious concern. If I had the funds I be getting some Tein Basics but $600+ is not with reach right now.

Thanks for answering,

Jason,

I believe that on any drop you need camber correction. Depending on how far you drop depends on the amount of correction needed.

Everyone on this board believes that with a drop less than 1.5" you do not need a camber kit. Just an alignment should get you back within specs. An alignment is key after you get drop or else you will still tear up your tires.

On the PRo Kit you shouldn't need a camber kit because it only drops 1.2. A good alignment place should be able to get you back within specs and you should be good to go.

Over the two you posted: I would probably go with the H&R. They seem to have better reviews and the Eibachs tend to sag.

If you can spare the cash now do the struts and Springs at the same time. It will save you money on getting an alignment twice. You won't be dissappointed. I think H&R + KYB AGX would pair up very nicely.

Lemme know if you have any other questions. I'm sure I still owe ya for the fog help

I had my old 3rd gen. dropped with H&R Sports (1.75 drop) on the factory struts, and there was definite tire wear on the inner wall, meaning there was a negative camber problem. I never got an alignment after the drop though, so who knows...

Hey,

Thanks for the replies guys. I am not looking to drop very much. I actually like the stock height of the lude but maybe about 1" lower. Looking at the specs on the pro-kits they look like what I want but I don't want to sag to much. What is the difference between sagging and settling? I could deal with them dropping a little lower over time as long as they stop at some point. I am very poor right now so I can't really afford much.

Right now I am leaning toward the Pro-kit on stock shocks and no camber correction until my stock shocks go. I should have more cash at that point.

Thanks again,

Hey,

I just looked for some H&R's and they are cheaper than the Eibachs. I think I am now leaning toward the H&R sports. They drop 1.3" all around. I would run those on stock shocks and check the alignment.

What do you think,

That sounds to me like exactly what you want. I know cantdrive55 rides on those springs and he likes them. If you didn't want to get new struts I'm sure you would be fine for awhile.

Here is a pic of his car. He won't mind since we are sure to drool

You should get an alignment everytime you change suspension setups.

Yeah, I figured that. I am seriously looking at the H&R sports. I can get them for $156 plus shipping at tirerack.com. I e-mailed Turboevo about them to see if he can get me a better price. Do you know if any of our sponsers carry them?

Thanks,

Are you sure the Sports are only 1.3 in.? Mine were about 1.85 in the front, and 1.75 in the rear.

It seems that cantdrive55's car has a little more gap in the front than the rear. Bah I want an even drop.

I have some Neuspeed Sports, but I don't want to get a camber kit.

H&R Sports drop the 3rd gen more than the 4th.

Oh, okay then. Gotcha.

Then what do the race springs drop the 4th gen? It's 2.25 on the 3rd gen.

Oh, btw, I STILL think we should meet up sometime. You name the place, I'll be there. I'd love to meet another St.Louis Luder.

Alright, I think I am going with the H&R sports with stock struts for now. I will run that setup until the shocks go and then get some Tokico Blues

Thanks for all the input guys.

Is saving up for a spring/shock combo out of the question? I know you're broke, but patience is a virtue. Plus, you wouldn't have to take everything apart twice.

bsi, what kind of wheels did you get? Post pics asap of the new rims, mmkay?
