ok, im back with yet another problem. the other day i got in my car, but when i went to get out i could not. the door would not open from either the inside or the outside. now i took the door panel off as far as i can on the inside and i can see all the components of the door system. all the door rods and such are still the right place and going to the white box at the latch. but when i pull on the handles, it feels as tho its locked and flows freely. i took it to the dealer and they want 400 dollars just to open the door (4 hours of work) and 180 for the part. is there a way that i can get the door open. thats all i need to do cause i can replace the part myself at a fraction of the price. any help please! oh and a regular body shop had no idea what to do either. they said worst case the need to cut the door off and replace it with a used one. but the did try other ways and never charged me.
have your windows made any weird noise lately? Sometimes the rods get loose and get in the way of the window and get fcked up. you should be able to open the door from the inside by manipulating the rods. if not take it to a different body shop, they should know how to open it. It might just be whatever holds the rod thats going bad..

OK, well i will have to do that. but i hope there can be something done. i took all the rods and stuff off and am now fooling around with the lock box. if i can get that off i should be able to unlock and open it manually. but that's all i can hope for right now!
the power locks do something? ...check the fuse under the hood... one of 15A
if you removed the door panel... and the power lock isnt working you could try to send 12V with a 15A or maybe a 10A to the connector near the door actuator (almost the in the middle of the car)
YEL/RED - positive
WHT/RED - negative
if that dont unlock it then reverse the polarity...
YEL/RED - negative
WHT/RED - positive
[EDIT] if you cant do it from the driver side, you can do it from the passenger side, if both doors dont open, look the conectors under the dash in the passenger side, maybe you will have to remove the glove box to make it easier to find them and the kick panel
i think i finally understand you... i have the same problem
for a moment i thought it was an electrical problem, but the passenger side unlocks and opens fine
it is as you described, door handles run freely or the actuator is dirty and cant get to open
im thinking of trying to remove the door.. removing the bumper, fender and the door bolts
dont know exactly if will work, but i hope, cant find anything else to do
removing the door from the hinges won't help. the way the catch on the latch is designed it is an eyelet, not a peg like GM cars. the latch when it closes goes over the eyelet catch. they are designed to stay closed even in a straight side empact during an accident. if you take the door off the hinges, you'll just have a door dangling from the latch and catch, then you'll be more pissed off. your best bet i think may be still through the door and see if you can tear the latch assbly apart to trip the latch mechanism free. good luck, i had one in my shop that i fought with for 4 hours and the guy got tired and pissed because how long it was taking, and i didn't charge him a dime. that was 4 hours of my life i'll never get back...good luck
this could be a good approach to at least get the door open?
get to the striker bolts from the back panel, use some pressure pliers to unscrew and cut the excess with a dremel
the area is very confined,
another problem of cutting the bolts will be to fully unscrew the bolt, and i think it is too long to get the door opened (without cutting them)
Finally I could open the door.. end up wit a f****ing pain in my back but worth it for a next occasion, to help other ppl with the same problem and/or to save a lot of money
The theory of removing the door wont work, as you cant remove the fender
it should take like 2 hrs o less
you will need:
striker
striker bolts
door lock system
pressure pliers
screwdriver flat head
protecting lens
dust mask
paint
dremel
-right angle
-cutting disk
-optional - grinding bit (color orange most)
Procedure:
-First i assume you have removed the back panel
-Remove the drivers seat belt, unplug the door (open) switch and peel/cut/trim the plastic covering the seat belt.
-Then with the pressure pliers grab the bolts by the very end (as most as you can but having a good grab) and unscrew them just a bit.
If you dont grab them by the end, it will be difficult to unscrew later.
-Now grab the dremel w/right angle and cutting disk, and cut a side of the metal bracket holding the I nut of the striker.
-Continue to make an horizontal cut in the center of the bolts to make the end part a flat head screw.
Try to center it as much as you can, should not be too deep just like 3mm
-If you think the marks left by the pressure pliers are too "big" that will cause a problem later..
Use the dremel w/right angle and grinding bit or use the cut disk to erase those marks and make it pass the nut w/out problem
-Bend the bracket so that the I nut could be removed.
-Use the screw driver to unscrew the striker botls. I used a wrench with a flat head tip, you could also use a ratchet with the tips
-At this point you are supose to have the striker nut outside and the bolts loose
-Use the pliers once again to hold the bolt and remove the excess so you can open the door again
-Paint for rust protection and wait the time said in the bottle, you can continue with the next step, but dont do the striker replacement yet
Next step will be cutting the striker from the door & replace, and replace the door lock system
-I still havent made that last step because I dont have the replacement parts.
Looks long, but no.. just some quick easy steps & tips
Sorry if you cant understand something.. my english is not perfect and also im sleepy
Alright well as much as i hate bringing threads back from the dead i think that el babys idea is pretty creative and will save alot of money.
I'm halfway through the process right now but it just doesnt seem like its going to work, the bolts look too long to be able to open the door, did you have to cut them? if so how short?
thanks

In that part I was talking about the bolts... remove the excess = cut them as you should have 2 new ones
how short... i dont remember... but the most as you can... i think that i grab them with the pressure pliers and pull them to cut as much as i could
look at the pictures and if you can (maybe a should), take the other striker with the bolts ant put them in the door to have an approximate length
when i opened the door the screws like scratched a bit the inside paint (where the striker goes) but nothing to worry.. like the clear and maybe a little bit more but not to the metal
