Door Lock Oddity

This is interesting -- but weird!

So, to lock the doors from the inside, we tap the lock button down once, right? Well, in my car at least, in order to unlock the doors, I've always had to double-tap the lock button down. Tapping the button up has had no effect.

Until a few days ago, that is. A few days ago, my car changed its behaviour. Now, pressing the button down locks the doors, and pressing the button up unlocks the doors. (And a double-tap has no effect.) This is the way I always expected it to work -- although I never lost much time wondering what was up with the double-tap thing.

1. How does the lock button work in all your cars?

2. Is there some mystery way this behaviour can be switched?

1.) I put the key in and turn my car on. Doors lock automatically. Turn key off and it unlocks the doors.

2.) Yes.

Quoted you because of the turn the car on and the doors lock etc.

I don't have to touch my door locks. Mine lock on their own when I turn the car on. Same way with unlock. If the car turns off then the doors unlock by themselves.

Is yours the same way?

Yeah, mine work normally when i use the switch, nut my alarm locks and unlocks. Heres another mystery. Sometimes my door locks will get possessed and start unlocking and locking over and over for a while while I'm driving without me touching anything. It has happened with and without passengers. Anyone experiance this before?

Yeah it was kinda funny at first, then it just got annoying. It hasn't done it for a while :knocks on wood: but I bet now that I've said that it'll do it tommorow.

Same thing Happened to me.. they would be like possesed NOW they do NOT work at all.. no power locks whatsoever.. ther is a rectangular control module in the drivers side door that somehow got f'd up... I need to replace this... I took my door panel off and scoped it out.. it looks like its somehow corroded.. there is a wiring harness that is pretty big that plugs into it.. and it has like this greenish corrosion on it.. if I take the harness and wiggle it around the doors will lock and unlock.. dunno why.. but I just gotta replace it is all..
