The opposite happened to me when I picked my car up from the body shop this summer. I could open the passenger door from the outside but not the inside.
The shop removed by door handle assemblies to paint the doors and when they reinstalled it, the rod which connects to all the mechanisms inside the door got hung up on the window when it was rolled down. When the window was rolled down, it caused the rod to bend, hence you couldn't open the door from the inside.
I believe there are two rods, one for the inside handle and one for the outside handle.
Your window probably got hung up on the rod and it needs to be bent back into place, that's all that was needed in order to fix my problem.
Don't keep fooling around with the window until you fix the problem because you could probably do more damage (like snapping the rod with the force of the window).
Should be an easy fix which costs nothing.
