Dome light issue

So i've had this problem for a while, when I open the door my dome light doesn't come on. If i move the switch to the "on" position, it works. I do have the switch in the center for it to come on when the door is open, but it doesn't. Is there a fix for this?

Yeah, it's a small plastic slider (shaped like an L) on your door jam, that's what tells the car if the door is open or not. If that's broken then the light wouldn't come on if you opened the door.

but wait - if the thing was broken wouldnt the car think that your door was open all the time? when you shut the door the thingy is pressed in towards the car but the spring in it presses it out towards the outside of the car. check it anyways!

Does this happen with both doors or only one?
