DOHC F22B from a JDM Prelude....

I've posted this on one board, and it confused a few people... maybe someone here will be a little more helpful...

The Japanese Prelude Si had a motor that wasn't the almighty H23A. They had a smaller, but *almost* as powerful motor... the F22B. It has 160hp @6000 and 148 lb-ft tq @ 5,500 if I remember correctly. 8 lb ft tq less.

Now, what my question is:
What will fit this motor? Is it the same head as the H23A? Does is have the same bolt pattern on the head (exhaust manifold side) as an Accord? Will it have to be sleeved with forged pistons like the H series?

I'm trying to deal with what I have here.... it's a long story, but I'm trying to make the best of it. With 9.2:1 CR instead of 9.8:1, I figured it'd make a better turbo motor than N/A. Now I just have to find out what turbo manifold will fit. And I'm irritated.

Anyone know about these things?

unfortunately yes... it was installed in my girlfriends Prelude instead of the H23A like we asked. The mechanic knocked off money, and it's not worth suing because the car will never be in his hands again, so it doesn't matter now I guess. Right now I'm trying to deal with what I have.

I'm guessing it fairly similar similar to the USDM F22a (found in 92-96 "S" models). The F22a is a SOHC motor, whereas the F22b is a DOHC. I would assume that this mean most of the head components are not interchangable. However, I bet the exhaust manifold has the same bolt pattern. I assume it is a non-VTEV motor? I think there was a DOHC F22 (dont no if it was VTEC) in some Accords after 94 or so, but it never showed up in a Prelude. . .you might check out www.accordclub.com for some info.

Two things:
#1. 13's are easy... relatively. DEEP in the 13's is where your $$$$ is going to come out. In just breaking and rebuilding parts in the past two years, over $20,000. I was aiming for 12's, but I decided that N/A was just way too much trouble. Blegh. F/I and mid 12's here I come.

#2. Custom turbo kit... talk to me.
I'm assuming that no parts from the H23A will fit. Cams, header, turbo manifold etc.? Who did your manifold? I'm assuming that's what had to be custom made. T3/T4?

That sounds expensive...

You will have to change pistons again and those nasty cams will have to go bye-bye as well...

Yes, I know. Seeing as how the pistons are trashed right now and I have a set of JE 9:1 on hold, and I already have a buyer for the cams, I'd say I'm one step ahead of you.
