doh, hood wont pop

tonight i went to my car to reinstall the ignition cable so i could leave the mall and to my surprise the hood didnt pop. a friend of mine pulled on the cable while i tried to move the latch mechanism and we popped it that way, so the cable probably isnt snapped. for those of u who've experienced this... should i go all out and replace the cable, even though it doesnt seem to be broken? or is there a specific point where the cable could have come loose?

this sux, i messed up my nice home depot mesh grill thing trying to get to the mechanism, i scratched some paint on my hood, and nearly went deaf when my friend decided to honk while my head was in front of the horn.

Can you feel tension when you pull from the inside? If not then the cable its broken somewhere, or it came off the pull lever. Theres not many places where it can come off since its a one peice cable. So its either at the level or at the latch in the engine bay.

after going through hell to open the hood again, i found the problem. seems that the little metal piece at the end of the cable slipped off the notch on the latch mechanism. so i just popped it back into place and used some electric tape to keep it lined up. bah, it works... for now
