That's the best picture I could find. My car is on the right. If you look at the very bottom edge of the fender, you can see the black rubber strip. The car on the left doesn't have them. They are on all 4 fenders.

Those strips are rubber and actually trap dirt and salt against the fender..everybody here in Canada rips them off...they're bad! They make the fender wells rust!

Mine have been on there for the last 10 years, my sunroof had some rust, but there is none whatsoever in the fenders. I do believe it though, the 4th gen fenders are very prone to rust.
