Does the AEM CAI actually get much cold air?

Just curious, as I was looking in the area where the filter is for my AEM cold air intake (where the resonator used to be).. And one good thing (that it looks like to me) seems to be that it looks like there is little to no chance of getting much water in that area. It's completely shielded (at least it is in my 1994 S).. Another thing.. Because of the shielded area, does this reduce the amount of power due to the lack of immediate cold(est) air? Thanks kids

Well I have 2 (two) little vents in the plastic shield..which go right up to the intake..some people I know have cut out a whole and kinda converted to to ram air...stay away from driving in lakes if u do this

But the point is the air the CAI sucks in will theoretically be cooler based on where its located (not near the heart of the engine)

I oticed quite a difference when I used my AEM over an AKimoto, as for getting cold air, yes it does get quite a bit of coldair where the filter is placed

I recently installed an AEM CAI as well, but the air is drawn from pretty much the same place as with the stock air intake, isn't it? The filter is lower down now, but the air was taken from the same place. Removing the stock resonator and air intake area just makes space for the filter on the AEM kit. I didn't really notice a big change in power.

there is no doubt that the intake gives you lots of power - dropping 0.4 seconds off my 1/4 mile and add 4mph to my trap speed is enough to convince me.

I understand that it gives you more power, however, don't you think it would give you even more if you were to expose it to free, open-air?
