Do you know? *Tranny Question*

I have a cracked tranny casing... the motor mount that is attached onto the tranny case has cracked and I am driving with one less motor mount.

Now the question is...

Do you guys know if the motor mount is attached onto the tranny housing, or the clutch housing? or is there only one housing for both? I need to get the housing replaced cuz I can feel my motor jumpin around.. And also, the cracked portion that broke off is part of the threads that hold the speed sensor in place.. if that helps any...

thanks

p.s. if you don't know, and have pics of a prelude transmission, please post.. it will help me to identify.. since everything is hard to see in my engine bay

well the motor mount is attached to the tranny itself. the clutch housing is actually the tranny housing. but the clutch attaches to the block.

so both the tranny and the clutch housing are the same piece? As in, they can't be separated?

^i still don't know what you mean by clutch housing. because you take off the tranny.

then there's the clutch bolted to the engine block. there is a pressure plate over the clutch and then the flywheel under that.

now you can replace the tranny casing which is attached to the motor mount on the pass. side.

what you are asking is just wierd or your wording is wierd.

I'm asking if the transmission casing.... the bell housing.... is one solid piece... the transmission case surrounds the transmission gearing... and the clutch casing surrounds the clutch.. this part would be the part that attaches to the block.. I'm just wondering if there are 2 separate parts that make up the bell housing... OR.. are the clutch housing and tranny housing all ONE part... because I'm getting mixed replies on HONDA-TECH.com.. Some say clutch ousing and some say tranny housing... sorry if i still don't make sense..

why don't you look at an exploded view at slhonda or buy a helms.

there is no clutch housing per se.

think about this. the tranny is your head. the clutch is your neck. the engine is your body.

you are asking about removing the tranny (which is your head). there is a small area inside the tranny that has an opening to allow the clutch in (the bell housing)

if you buy another casing, it will just replace your tranny casing.

This may help...

the housing can be broken apart into two peices, but you will be exposing the insides of the transmission...

His wording is Honda's wording. They call what people normally call a bell housing a clutch housing. The transmission housing/case IS seperate. Take a look:

Clutch housing:
