You have to remove it, but as long as it's in good condition you can reuse the old belt. I would just put a new one on anyway, for peace of mind.

yeah i would too.........its a pita to remove because i couldn't get the cover on right with the engine still inside the car.........once it was out though........well much easier

Its good practice to change both at the same time. I think they both have the same change intervals.
