yes, jdm p13's do have a speed govenor that kicks in at about 120mph. its not safe to go that quick in the first place, but u can by pass it. you can either do some wiring or get a vtec controller that is able to bypass it. or get it chipped w/spoon specs/jun specs/ or mugen specs and they usually disable the govenor.

FYI: its 112mph.
Speedo says 120. but its common knowledge that they are way off.

I have verified my p13 to cut the fuel @ 112mph (Garmin GPS +/- .01mph)

i have h22, p13, and SI (h23) trans, my redline is different on every gear accord to my speedo, i dont have any gauges other than stock, also when i hit 120 it bounces to 110 then 120, 110, etc

Q: What can i do to fix the redline, or is that normal with SI trans on h23

chipping the ecu does give a few advantages besides disabling the govenor.

common advantages are: higher redline (8500+), agressive fuel mapping, advanced timing, etc.

disadvantages are that: these chips are made for specific cars w/specific mods. meaning you may not get all the performance benefits that you hope for especially for the price. i kno. spoon made like 4 versions of the program for their ecu for the H22a.

from what i've heard, you're better off just getting some engine work, vtec controller and some tuning and you should be better off than just running an expensive ecu. and besides, i really hope you got some major engine work if you ever plan on bringing it past 8000.

I thought it was cut by ignition, not by fuel.

well there is a guy on ebay selling the spoon spec chips for these for 25.00, I just bought one, waiting on shipment, I figure if it works cool, 25 bucks isn't that big of a deal. rev limit 8500 with no speed govenor.

The problem with those chips is that you have to install them yourself. That involves opening up the ECU and desoldering the old chip. Then you have to solder in the new one. Lord help you if you screw up cause you prolly will toast the ECU. If you can find some competent at soldering IC's then you might be better off though.

yeah I just found that out, but I am talking to the guy, and either I am going to pay 120 to have it done, unless he gives me very specific instructions on what to solder and what not to solder.

You should PM 4bidden about this. He has a guy that copied his original JDM spoon program that came with his ECU and will chip peoples ECU's for a price. I have been thinking about this for a while but haven't done it yet.
