Very easy to install yourself. Mine went. Cost me 300 new from Honda. Took all of 10 minutes to plug it in and time it.

I have pics somewhere of the distributor off if you want them.

This is the three bolts holding it in.

There is only one thing you have to take out of the old distributor and put into the new one. You have to pay attention to where the wires go and plug them in properly. There is only one way it goes back on. Then just time it and you are set to go

you get another one

Mine went the amazing distance of 76k before hitting the trash bin. Who knows how long the next one will last.

The distributor is a very poor desing in my honest opinion. I can see how it craps out.

OH.

Your car won't start. Your CEL will kick on. I'm sure you won't mess anything up but if it doesn't start normal you don't want to push it. If something gets jammed in there you can mess up your cams. But it's really unlikely. There is a bearing inside that a metal shaft spins in and the bearing are usually what gives out.

I was driving when mine happened. The car just shut off and would start again.

Total tow charge 163 dollars

I was out in the middle of nowhere though. I would replace it before it goes. You can take the distributor cap off and check for excess amounts of dust. That's a good indicator that it's about to crap out.

you'll get a few CEL's, this just happened to me three weeks ago. I replaced it with one from Ebay, brand new, the guy i baught it off of was awsome, and its warrentied. Anyways, its cake to put on, real easy like everyones saying. The worse it gets you'll start missfiring, and your tachometer will go nuts right before the bearing finally siezes up. Once that suckers siezed your not going anywhere.

If you decide to purchuse a new distibutor, be carefull about which one you buy. The F22 engine (S model) uses a different bolt pattern than than the H23 and H22 distributors (which are identical). Some sellers may not be aware of this, and list items to fit all 92-96 Preludes (which is not the case).

Also, many of the distributors on Ebay are JDM units, which means they are internal coil units (USDM units are external coil). While JDM distributers CAN be re-wired for use on USDM cars, it's an additional hassle. This probably wont be an issue because most of the JDM distributers listed on Ebay are for H22/H23's and won't fit anyways (as discussed above).

check flying pat's auctions on ebay. I got mine for $175. That's for the cap, rotor, ignitor etc. Honda wanted $330 for the housing only.

Of course you can get an AC delco for next to nothing from Advance. These guys probably won't like em, but they work fine. Just remember to replace the rotor button too.
