Distributor Question

Hey all. I thought I knew, but now I'm not so sure. On a 1993 VTEC (original, not swapped in) does the distributor have internal or external coil? Does anyone have the correct model #? Is it TD-60U or TD-61U? I'm going to order one off of ebay, but don't know which one to get. Thanks!

That's what I thought also. Can someone with a USDM 1993 Prelude VTEC please verify the model number of the distributor? Either TD-60U or TD-61U? I believe part number is the same for both VTEC and H23 models. Thanks

I'm pretty sure that's not true. I have a 93 VTEC and my distributor has an external coil. It's night time, so I can't check the part number, but it's written quite visibly on the distributor itself. You should have no trouble finding it. To check if you have an external coil, just look for a 5th wire going to your distributor, and trace it back to a black component. If that's not there, then you have an internal coil (but you shouldn't)

Trident, Reason i'm asking on here is b/c they stole my distributor so I have no chance to see the part number and the car is at my shop now so I can't go to look for the 5th wire. Am trying to get a replacement ASAP. Just don't wanna get the wrong one and prolong the whole situation. If anyone can tell me for sure, I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I'll just try to swing by the shop tomorrow and look for that 5th wire. Thanks again!

believe me... all H22A/H22A1/H22A4 motors have internal distributor coil....

what you have is a H23 distributor... did the previous owner do a JDM H22A swap??

Check out this site: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...UTOR+%28TEC%29

All H22's and H23's that are USDM & OBD 1 share the same distributor with external coil.
