Difference in stock calipers between 92 and 93 Si?? - Honda Prelude Forum

Both front calipers on my lude were frozen so I took it to a mechanic to get new ones (stock). He called me today and said that the car is going to be an extra day in the shop because my car came out late in 92 and it actually has 93 calipers on it. He said that the 92's that they ordered didnt fit and they had to send them back. I didnt think honda changed the calipers between 92 and 93.... i guess it can be one of three things:

1. Honda did actually change the calipers
2. He thinks (for some odd reason) that my car needs 93 VTEC calipers (maybe because it was called SI VTEC that year)
3. He forgot to order the part and didnt want to admit it so he made up this nice little lie to cover his ass.

what do you guys think?

i'll go with #3 for $500..

i'm 98% sure that the calipers remained the same on the 4th gen 92-93 si calipers. it may be possible he ordered a set from a late 91 model si??? sounds like they just didn't get around to your car today.

I don't beleive honda changed the calipers between 92 and 93. Maybe he ordered the wrong part, maybe vtec calipers.

Si calipers are the same from 92-96. Confront your mechanic and make him look stupid. I bet he will be like "Did I say 93, I thought I said 91"

whats the difference between vtec and si calipers? which one is better? if they're different, would vtec fit in si?

vtecs have a larger rotor compared to si's so the vtecs have a larger caliper. Of course the vtec is better more surface for braking.

Maybe he ordered the calipers off of the S instead of the SI which i think are smaller (doesn't the S come with 14 in as opposed to 15 in wheels?). I wish i was thinking when i brought the car into his shop because I would have had him order the Vtec calipers instead. They are a direct bolt on, aren't they?

s and si calipers and rotors are the same.
