I remember reading in some thread on some board that due to complaints of the suspension being too rough, Honda made the ride a little less sporty on the 94-96 Preludes. Can anyone verify this, and say which parts they changed?
I have a 94, and if the 92/93 springs are actually stiffer, it means I can swap them in and still remain in SCCA stock class. I know it wouldn't be much of a change, but it would be something.

i know the thread you're thinking of... but for some reason i highly doubt that people complained about the "sporty" ride in a sports coup.
as far as i know, all the suspension parts are the same part number and are the same specs as they always were
i mean, can you imagine what honda was thinking when hearing about the "supposed" complaints...
customer: "i bought a prelude because i wanted a good sports coup, but the ride was just a little too sporty for me"
honda: "why didn't you just buy an accord for less money if you didn't want a stiff ride???"
Well, I agree, but hey, truth is stranger than fiction (and stupidity is more powerful than common sense). You can't draw any conclusions because of what should make sense.

One thing that might explain having the same part numbers is that Honda could have done that so if 92-93 owners needed to replace them, they would replace them with the "new" shocks?
I haven't heard of Honda changing the spring rates/height... but would like to know if it's true as well.
acually I can verify this as true! When I got in my accident I needed to replace all my suspension and my stupid mechanic acidentally put 93 suspension on the right side and 96 suspension on the left side. It was soo wired ever time I turned or anything my car would like sway to one side haah.
^^ yea. Its kinda hard to explain. When I would turn to the left it would feel fine while turning. But right when my wheel started to straighten I would like kinda rock to the right a little bit. It was insainly annoying.

that could also be the mechanic using used, or worn out, suspension on that side and new on the other side...
Well he ordered all brand new suspension from the factory. . .(all they had in stock was 93 right and 96 left) My father has known our mechinic ever since he was little they grew up together. I hope he would lie to me lol.
there could be a number of things that could be causing your car to feel that way. Getting into an accident where it damages the suspension can affect the car even tho you replaced it with new shocks.

guys im telling you. I got into my accident and got the wrong springs for the left and right sides. I changed the springs to the right ones and the car was perfect. I would only get the correct springs for your year.
well, all i can say is that my suspension feels tight even with stock tires. i havent really ridden in any newer preludes, but i drove a 94 and it didnt feel quite as tight, but that could be caused by many different things

You mean I shouldn't put 92 springs in a 94? That's hard to believe.
