DID search, but STILL need help on indiglo gauge wiring.

I did search, found a indiglo gauge installation faq for 5th gen lude and 2 for 4th gen lude.

1. 5th gen one is different from 4th gen coz it has only 4 wires. 4th gen has 6 wires!!! there are 2 red wires with black strips. so which one?

2. in the installation guide, some people recommended to wire the power line to dimmer switch. but some people recommended to ashtray light. So which one should be better?

Thanks. Need input fast...

KEN

Somebody was saying that if you wire the power line to dimmer switch.. it will fail in the short period...

is it true?

on the install instructions I received it said it will fail to both. I wouldn't hook them up to the ash tray light. There is a power spot in your fuse box. I would tap into it there.

hohoho... even the person who started this thread also has FBP.

anyway, I still haven't got the answer for my first question yet.

I pulled out my dimmer switch, found out there are 6 wires. I know I should use the red wire with black strip. but unfortunately there are 2 red wires with black strip.

Can somebody help?

You shouldnt be doing this if you arn't using a volt meter.

Start testing some wires, see which ones give you 12v when the lights are on
