Did the legend caliper swap....

now what should I do for the rears??

Did the guys with the swap just keep the stock brakes? I know that the rears do not make a big difference and that you don't want to overcompensate the rear brakes for the front but are there kits, or can you buy just some rear brake upgrades?

I do have slotted rotors all the way around just my rears are stock size and the the dual piston in the front.....

any suggestions, or should I just leave it as it is?

Leave the rears. Just put nice pads on it all around. Slotted/drilled rotors were not needed. Too many people think they are for some reason. *shrugs*

I heard drilled and/or slotted rotors warp faster and chew up brake pads more. That is if the rotors were originally blanks and some company drill/slot them. Whats the purpose anyway? I read that it was something done for old school brake pads that released gases and thus lost some friction... i believe it was on these forums i read it

Crossed Drilled/Slotted rotors are to cool down your rotors under hard braking. Plus its supposed to aid braking since more friction than a smooth surface like a blank. Other than that its looks good.

No - years ago, drilled/slotted rotors began to be used b/c older style/formulation brake pads would "gas" under extreme heat & this would aid in releasing the gas. A vented disk helps more in the cooling of braking under hard braking (notice a prelude has vented disks stock in the front vs. the rear solid disks). For maximum cooling, most racecars will have brake ducts to flow air over the rotors to help in cooling.

No - having a larger surface (meaning an unslotted/undrilled) rotor is a larger heat sink - yes, brakes work by friction - turning mechanical motion into heat, but heat will also kill a brake system. By having a larger rotor surface area (meaning an unslotted/undrilled) allows more heat to transfer between the brake pads to the rotor. Also, to the brake pad, a drilled/slotted rotor is just as smooth as a blank. The piston will only push the pads out until they hit the undrilled/unslotted portion.

Yep, this is the only reason to do this upgrade - it looks bling-bling yo. (I once upon a time had slotted rotors as well). If you look at the Honda Challenge drivers, you will notice that none of them run slotted/drilled rotors. In fact, they consider the rotors to be a wear item (think of use & dispose). To most race-car drivers (where braking is of utmost importance), the brake-pad compound is the most important part in stopping the car. Other than if you are a rally car driver (where the slots help in cleaning mud off the brakes), you don't need slotted/drilled rotors.

Cross drilled rotors are pretty much for show. Slotted rotors will actually perform a bit better, as far as cooling.

IMO, you should do as mentioned above and just use a good set of pads. If the balance is a bit off, then try using a slightly stronger set of pads in the rear than the front.

lol, it really doesn't matter, jen didn't buy them, she won them at NPM, this topic has been exhaustively covered in so many other threads.

It'll he hard to overcompensate on the rears, in fact there was a good article in C&D's 'Boost' magazine about how some big brake kits up front actually elongate overall xx-0mph stoppng distances because of an uneven bias, or something like that. I actually had to read it a few times to understand it completely lol

Anyway, yeah, i echo whoever said it first, just get some better pads for the backs and your brakes should be top notch

looks good, yeah I always figured the rotors are the biggest b!tch, so wasn't it hard trying not to strip those screws, or were yours not as rusty as mine?

we ended up drilling all 8 screws out, not one of them came out. Probably broke about 6-8 drill bits, used a torch, tried PB Blaster, and of course tried the impact screwdriver and broke the bits to it.

I got new screws from Honda, I plan on installing those one of these days but its not too big of deal since the car never gets driven around.
