did i blow my tranny?? cant reverse

i cant go into reverse anymore but all my other gears work fine...

will changing my manual transmission fluid help any??? i havent changed it for 30000 miles

can somebody help me???

Did you do anything like putting it into reverse while you were still rolling forward?

Changing the fluid is not going to fix this kind of problem.

It sounds like you have lost reverse, unless its just the shifter.

rarely is it the shifter. but do this. disconnect the shifter cables from the tranny, then move the shifter around if there's no resistance and moves freely its internal. you'll need to pull the tranny, sorry.

but i think i know what you're talking about, happened to a crx and an early lude i know of. you can go into every gear but reverse, it wont even let you grind reverse or come near the gear right?

if im wrong oh well...

It is more than likely one of the shift rods. I had the same thing happen. I wouldn't even bother with the fluid, it would only affect the tranny while in motion. With the clutch disengaged you should be able to go into reverse, if not you have a damaged linkage or tranny.

If it works when the tranny cools off (say, letting it sit overnight), you definitely have a tranny problem. Get ready to pull it...
