Diagnosing bad sound...

I get this bad sound sometimes when I am just driving. The sound occurs when i am cruising, and then it continues usually until I brake and come to a complete stop. As I am braking the sound gets worse/deaper/louder and it sounds kind of like when a huge truck is braking hard (that deep rubbing sound). I also notice the sound often initially gets started when I hit a bump or something like causes the car to move vertically a bit. The sound is coming from the rear passenger side.

A few possible problems have been proposed, and I was wondering how, if possible, can check each of them easily (i.e. without have to take apart the brake system). Possiblities proposed so far:
1) bad rear brake caliper.
2) That dust shield thing behind the rotor is rubbing against the rotor
3) bad wheel bearing.

Now, for each how acn I check if its the problem? Will there be any other side effects of each that I can tell if I have? Anyone else have a problem like this (I know Tola did, and said it was his caliper).

Thanks, Jordan

I need new rear brake pads, but I dont think that is the problem. Its not grinding, more of rubbing. All I can say is think of a huge Metro bus coming to a stop...

I dont know about brake check, but I think I will find a shop like that. I did that last time, and what they diagnosed as a bad wheel bearing turned out to just be some loose lug nuts Thats why I'd try to find it myself first.
