decisions decisions

ok here it is as u may know i bought my car for 5500 and was planing on fixing it with a cost of 1400 then my radiator goes add 200 at least cost=1600
i could
a. sell my car "as is" make a few bucks and find a new car
b. fix all the shyt thats wrong and have a good dependable car at the cost of 1600 or
c. get jdm h22 and tranny for 2200 plus instalation 500 plus radiator 200 =2900

but my Si tranny has 74k miles and i would like to keep it, but i would need a vtec ecu i dont have that much money and im on a resticed income but VTEc sure sonds nice. what would you do?

plus i plan on modding it the extra 40hp is about 1300 if i keep my h23 can i get 40hp for 1300?

well vtec ecu is pretty hard to find unless the jdm h22 you gonna buy is complete...recommend save more money and get a complete...it should run you about $2900 installed at the most...look at honda-tech.com under best-buys or classifieds...there are some groupbuys on jdm swaps...but if you are gonna keep the h23, you should do a research first with all the parts that you need...it shouldnt cost you $1400....overall it shouldnt cost you more than $1000...look at some deals out there before you buy anything...

Get the H22...for the 1300 difference you get 40 hp plus the wonderful sound of VTEC. You cant get 40 hp for 1300 without Nitrous. 1300 would get you intake, header, exhaust, and an ignition. That is going to be 20hp, probably less. For 1300 you could get nitrous and it would be faster....but you cant spray all day long and it would get expensive quick(nitrous refills) and trash the engine. Get the h22....you will be very happy. If you want a rough idea of the difference...go test drive a 2001 lude and keep in mind that it is going to be a tad slower than a 4th gen VTEC. Good luck with whatever you choose.

One thing you did not consider, is that you can sell your *GOOD* H23A to one of these people that are looking for one. You could probably get at least $800 for it, and along with the tranny maybe $1000.....

Good luck!

Keep your car, you bought it at a decent price. I would just sell your si motor, save up for the h22. If you want to go usdm and can't find an ecu, just go with the hondata one. Like the entry level ecu for the h22. I think it only runs for like 500 bux... where most people i've seen have posted the p13 (h22) ecu for like 400-450.

Maybe 8 - 10 horses at best. I think the H22 swap is a good idea. I like my H23 though, ill like it even more when im boosted
