I read somewhere and someone also told me that Integra Type-R (DC2) calipers and or mounting brackets will fit the 4th gen without modification. This didn't sound right to me, but then I browsing Rare Trick's site and found the spoon twin block calipers for our car also titled under DC2. So I e-mailed RT, they spoke with Spoon and supposedly the one for the DC2 fits the 4th gen. Anyone know anything about this? I was thinking if that applies, then the world of brake kits gets a little (or a lot) larger for the 4th gen considering any company that makes a kit for a honda/acura has to have made one for the DC2.
ALso consider than even though the caliper fits, most brake kits include the caliper and rotor, so then you'll need a rotor with holes that are a 4x114.3 lug pattern. Dc2's are 4x100 and the Type R is 5x114.3.
OR you can also do a 5lug conver. (which are also 5x114.3) & turn it into a bigger project.
yupp thats correct, a 5 lug conversion will place u in the same category for brakes as the 5th gen (which more companies make brake kits for) or the Integra Type R (which most companies will have a brake kit for). That's one of the reasons I did the 5 lug swap, so later on down the line when I got the cash, I'll invest in a good brake upgrade. As for now, I got a small brake upgrade from the 5 lug swap and went another step with the Integ Type R wheels
If you need any info on the swap or brake questions, lemme know.
The rotors are a small matter, the biggest factor for whether or not it's viable is if the DC2 and BB1/2/4 use the same mounting brackets. You can always mix and match a set of larger rotors with an aftermarket caliper, the former being easier to get and fit (since bolt patterns come in a set format, either 4x100, 4x114.3 or 5x114.3 as far as most hondas go), whereas calipers on the other hand rely on the bracket they mount to. I'd be glad to buy a Type R kit and sell the rotors off as long as I know the calipers will mount without modification, so can anyone say for certain whether or not they do? (The 5th gen does have a slightly larger market as far as bbks, go, but the DC2 has it owned)
Yes the calipers from a Dc2 will fit on a 4th gen or 5th gen prelude. Spoon calipers fit on both dc2's and bb's. Also, many people do the NSX caliper conversion, or legend calipers, on both dc2's and ludes as well. So as for Calipers alone, the mounting bracket will bolt onto your 4th gen hub. As for rotors, it'll be hard to find big brake rotors and match them to a different aftermarket caliper. For example, Rotora Calipers and AEM 4x114.3 big rotors. I'm not sure if the rotora rotors are the same size and thickness as the AEM. I think it'll be hard to mix and match. But i'm sure its possible.
yeah, no doubt, you can get the dimensions from any manufacturer and do a little math. I know of the NSX swap, but the dust shield has to be removed. I mean ANYTHING is possible, you could get any caliper, and, granted it'll fit within your wheel, simply have a machine shop make you a bracket to your specs. The idea that any DC2 caliper and bracket would simply bolt on minus ANY modification intrigued me, and I'm glad you came around to answer that question I had. This really opens up quite a few possibilities ...
If you guys are concerned about the rotors, u can simply re-drill the rotors like so many other people do. As for DC5 calipers, i doubt they will fit. but next time i get a chance at the shop with a DC5 i'll check.

Yes, the JDM '95-96' ITR had a 4 lug bolt pattern 4x114.3 The '97+ were 5x114.3
That's true. However I read recently that the 95-96 ITR's rotors, although 4x114 bolt pattern, were the same diamter and width as the Integra GS-R's rotors (i.e. smaller than the Prelude's rotors). Not sure how true that is though...
