dc headers and smog

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how dc headers would affect my vtec lude passing smog. I live in cali and I need to have it smogged soon, but i wanna install my dc headers soon. I know that theyre carb exempt, but does anyone know how they affect the emissions. Do they help the car or make it harder to pass...??

Thanks

They make it harder to pass, but I passed with I/H/E. Your mileage, engine condition, and other variables can affect how you do when you pass smog. Right before you go, you should really beat the sh*t out of the car so that your cat gets really hot.

....if your car is well maintained it will pass.

i had when i smogged it the following at first:

chipped ecu ( i believe jun)
getto intake
dc header
carsound high flow cat
FPR ( just painted it with a sharpie to black)

passed with flying colors.
one note of advice, heat that cat up, before you get there, take a couple of good runs and run that *****!!!

it works well when the cat is hot enough...lol

You will pass w/ the Header (not headers). Hence the carb plate. DC Header is like a OEM USDM header, just looks nicer. Acutally the collector on the DC header is SMALLER than a OEM USDM header. Hence the minimal gains. Best way to go is a OEM JDM Header. Also smog depends on the condition of your cat converter.

Well the header isn't a jdm per se because it's the same as the usdm one.

Nothing special.
