in dash tv

i saw many setups with a lcd screen put in the dash where the gas and water temp gauge is...i want to know what is the biggest size lcd that can fit up there? i was looking at 4 inch but i think 5.6 might be able to fit in there...anyone know what size will fit?

I've got a five inch in there and it's a pretty tight fit. I dunno if a 5.6 would work, but anything is possible!

i had that kind of setup before with the flip out but that gets anoying after awhile and i got cheap brands and paid 580 for all my stuff and it worked perfectly ...but i sold that for kit and now i want a small custom job

kevie88 - can you clearly see the screen or is this a job that is only cool to brag about and not good to use...i dont want to do all this work if i can hardly see the tv...i had a 6.4 and that was pretty good but i am not sure how a 5 would compare

phatfarm - how does $50 shipped sound?

Im probably going to sell my setup too, though.

yeah i read about your car...sorry about that...i am only doing this because the location of the shifter in the 4th gens make it hard to ejoy the flip out lcds...the only one i seen that was good was by someone that put there head unit in the ac vents at the top...smart idea but i am not crazy about adding something to my car only to lose something else...the LCD sounds like a cheap and easy idea...also i have to start doing some work myself so i figure i will start with this shops get hardons when they see me walk in

oh, i wasnt aiming that towards you or anything

yeah i saw the AC vent thing.. i dont like it much, it sets the TV up SO high, and it IS your radio/cd control, besides, i have enough idiots staring into my car with my TV where it is now.. i cant imagine it up there.

LMAO! That's damn funny!

I don't really know if this mod is worth all the work, to be honest I'm thinking of pulling the screen out of the dash and putting it up into the passenger side visor, I really don't use it very often. I think a passenger would enjoy it much more.

thats what i am thinking about doing...putting a 5 inch lcd in the dash and then putting a 4 inch lcd in the passanger side visor and put a hide away dvd player in the glove box (of course i would have to fabracate a new glove box)...it will cost a lot less that way than if were to put the indash dash flip out lcds...also i think that is a lot clearer looking to go custom...lets hope it looks as good in my car as it does in my mind

uhm.

retail prices,
$1150 TV Eclipse,
$390 6dsc changer Eclipse,
$430 Digital Sound Processor (hideaway) Eclipse,
$200 Clarion miniVCR.

Feature wise, it's an Eclipse. What features?

The DSP gives it Concert, Theatre, etc., options for sound (sounds amazing watching a movie as opposed to NOT having DSP), and Eclipse also has one of the clearest screens.

oh, and Eclipse = superior in SQ.. by far.
