dash replacement

What is the best way to put the dash back in? I did not take off or lower the steering wheel when removing the dash. Is there a certain way to put it back in?

there are some screws and stuff on the steering column....look under the dash. I think it can be done without removing the steering wheel

you can definately drop the column. there are two nuts under the column that will drop the entire thing. i wouldnt do it this way however. its much easier to just remove the steering wheel. it comes off very easily and will minimize time spent getting under the dash once installed which is, when as tall and long armed as i am, a very good thing. if you have an airbag you will need the correct torx bit to remove the airbag once thats out you just need an extension and if i remember correctly a 19mm socket and the wheel comes right off. make sure you take the wheel off after centering it so you can put it back in the right spot easily.

personally i just think its quicker to pull the wheel. but i have done it the other way too so i think you'll be ok whatever you do

i hate pulling my wheel with the bag. go have to rest the cabel reel and do the short conector i find dropping the column gives you more room aswell so you dont ding the dash on the way out

i personaly have never had the dash out of my 94 but jave pulled a 3rd gen dash probly about 10 times ( at our local pick n pull when we did my dads engine swap and needed the main wiring harness)

i have had my steering wheel off a few times and always fell like i am gona break the cruise switches

so do as you find easyer.

make sure and mark wherever the steering wheel is. when i took mine off, i just made sure the wheel was centered so we didnt have to reset anything

if you really want to dynomat the entire firwall, you will have to pull the blower motor/heater core/airconditioning evaportator out and if you want to get every last inch you'll probably have to pull the pedals out as well. plan on draining the coolant and refill and bleeding at the very least and maybe bleeding the brakes and clutch as well
