damn another jdm prob

i have a vafc in my car and i havent dynoed it yet, but today i decided to change the vtec L-H and H-L setting to 4700 and 4600, on the way home i was driving and all of a sudden the car stop acclerating and the rpms are flying all ova the place and the speedometer falls to zero, i pull over and the rpms jumping tryin to let the car stay on, so i turn the car off and wait a min and it works for about 10 secs and then the same **** happens again, pulled ova about 10 times to make it home. ne one have this problem, i reset the vafc after the 2 stop and still no help.

This similar incident occured on my previous FIELD VTEC Controller. I finally got sick of it and replaced it with an Apexi VTEC-AFC and had it correctly dyno tuned. No problems after that point.

It seems that your car is not receiving the sufficient fuel it needs to compensate for the estimated changes that you've set on the controller. Because most Honda's are very senstive to changes to VTEC engagment point as well as fuel settings, I would recommend setting the controller back to default until you have an oppurtunity to tune on a proper dyno.

When I was tuning my VTEC-AFC on a dyno, a VTEC engagment of 4700 RPM decreased my HP output by 6. With a 4800 RPM setting, it had an increase of 5 HPs.

The human "butt" dyno just doesn't cut it when it comes to tuning any piggy back controller.

Did you make the change with the Engine running?
You're not really supposed to make these changes while the engine is running.

Reset your ECU, turn the key to ACC, then make the change to the V-AFC, turn the key to OFF again and crank her up! shouldn't have any problems!

oh oh oh... actually you might wanna have someone checkyour igniter... you know, that little electronic device inside your distributor. It went out on me at 72 k and my car was doing the exact same thing, RPMs would drop to zero and then all of a sudden they would come back to normal and then right back to zero.

it costs about $80 from the honda dealer.
