Damn

I waited 5 hours for a shop to install some no name coilovers from ebay, now all stocks struts are blown. Is it damaging to the car to drive with blow struts? Of course I will replace them soon but just wondering if I should even be still driving around or not.

No it won't damage anything but the ride will suck and be bumpy as hell def. worth the $ for new ones.

When you buy shocks, do they come with bump stops?

Just a word of advis take your stock bump stops and cut them in half and only put half back on. Trust me I work for a performance shop and drop at least 4 cars a day. But no they don't come w/ bump stops.

The guy at the shop didn't cut anything, it seems he didn't even put the bump stops back in, I'm not sure tho, I just saw him take the springs and shocks apart and just put the coilovers right in, could this have cause my struts to blow?

Don't put all the blame on the shop. WHen most people put coilover springs on stock shocks, they tend to blow right away. Mine did, as well as a couple others I know.

Make sure they put the bump stops on, and cut them in half

Because the bump stops are ment for factory height and when you lower your car there is less travel and if you don't cut them you will caunstintly(sp) bottom them out and get a very iritating noise so if you cut them in half you still have the protection without bottoming out your strut.

Does every car use bump stops? I am wondering because I am worried the mechanic didn't use them and chucked them because I always hear this loud noise when ever I go over a speed bump. If all cars use it then the mechanic obviously must have known, and it's somthing else, otherwise I will have to get some new bump stops.

Hey! hows going guys?

I'm not quite sure about the bump stop you guy are talking about in here though. Cuz when the guy at a local shop install my set up (Eibach sportline and Koni yellow). All he did was that took off the stock struts and springs then replace it with that set up i got. I didnt see him cut anything though. My car is still making noises whenever i make turn or go over a small pot hole. Please explain more about how to cut a bump stop ? thanks

I'm hoping he did, but that was probably just the noise from bottoming out due to your blown struts

the bump stop is a metal tube like cover on the top of the strut........i did coils on my civic myself....and found out after reassembling them that i had to cut it.........just take that metal tube off the top of the strut and cut it in half using a dremel or something with a disk cutter........you can use a hacksaw but it will take longer and you dont get to see the kik ass sparks lol

What are you talking about te bump stop is the orange foam thing that moves up and down the strut you can cut it with a razor blade.

Nope their is no way to cut the bump stop with out at least taking the strut off of the car. The bump stop is just a little foam piece aout 4-6 inches tall, what was said before it was the dustsleave not the bump stop. but the strut has to be dis-assebled to get to the bump stop.

They look good. GET THE COILOVER ADJUSTER, these didn't come with one, I have no Idea where to get one, if someone does let me know.

Get some good struts! Make sure they know what they are doing and cut the bump stops!
