Dammit, had a little accident...

I was backing up yesterday night and didn't notice a small tree and yeah, hit it... not with my bumper though, but my exhaust. I noticed after that my Apexi N1 sits back about 2" and that the tubing is hanging really low, with the resonator about .25" off the ground and sometimes scraping. I'm gonna take it to a shop as soon as I get back (going out with a friend now), but I'd really like to know what some of you guys think could have been damaged and how much it's gonna set my poor college arse back.

sorta the same thing happened to another guy yesterday, a jetta hit him from behind but the only thing he says is broken, is the exhaust.

depending on how hard you hit it and all, it could POSSIBLY be bent all the way up to the header.

but you are just best off like you said taking it to a shop to have them evaluate it.
Those darn trees always seem to just pop out at you dont they. no worries bro, better days will come

Could have bent but it depends on how hard the tree was. I'm thinking it got pushed out of the hangers. There are some roads down here getting worked on and theres like a big mound of asphalt in the middle. I hit it pretty hard with the bottom of my exhaust and all that happened was some scratched and the exhaust came out of 2 hangers. HTH

that happened with my exhaust too. i can hear it rattle But the resason for that is because the shop that put my exhaust on did a ****ty job.. I got them to rebend a pipe for me and rehang the exhaust for cheap since its been too long for them to cover under waranty. I just b1tched a lot.

Same thing happened to me when I reversed into a brand new Honda 'Jazz' at a main dealer My exhaust got a slight kink near the centre box and needed straightening and re-hanging as it kept rattling on the heat reflector above it - nothin that couldn't be fixed with a large hammer though.

Yeah, it bent some and came off the hangers. Took it to a little shop here that was recommended by everyone I asked (Castellano Muffler for fellow Miamians, 107th Ave and 32nd Street), cut it a bit past halfway, straightened it out, placed it back on the hangers, and welded it up. $30, a lot less than I feared, hehe. Thanks all, good to know this is a common goof-up. Hadn't noticed how large our blind spot is until now...

those guys are good. They welded up the exhaust and put a new muffler on my old car for $80.
