That's interesting. I think that might be my problem. Are you talking about the CV joint boot thing (or whatever it's called), like that rubber piece? I checked mine some time back and it was torn.

Was the squeaking sound you were hearing kinda low-pitched. I don't know if the "squeaking noise" everyone else is talking about in this thread is high-pitched or not, but the squeak I here is definitely not high-pitched.

no... cv joint boot is something different. If that leaks grease... than your cv joint would start "clicking" (I believe), and you have a bigger problem.

I am talking about the lower ball joint.

Yes it will still leak, but I am talking SMALL knife slit or something, it won't leak out all at once. I get a good month, maybe two, before I start hearing the squeak.

I have a new ball joint sitting here, and depending where I take my car, I might think about putting it in.

If anybody wants it, lemme know.

This guy from brake check who drives an integra took a look at it for me and recommended getting aftermarket strut mounts. He said it got rid of the knocking for him. He made a good point as to why they make more noise when it's cold, cause that rubber part on top of the strut, that sits under the top bolt stiffens up and causes the strut to move around more, or something like that.

He told me he did the same thing to his friend's prelude and it reduced the noises by about 75%, but said that because it's a prelude there's always gonna be noise. I guess he knows about the notorious prelude shock knock problem.

What do you guys think, is it really worth paying 270$ (labor included) for new aftermarket strut mounts, and do you think it would really reduce the knocking/squeaking. Maybe I should just risk doing it and let you know if it helped or not.

For those with just the rear squeaking, serious look into the shock collar fix!!!! Before paying $270 I would look into either getting shorter aftermarket collars or grinding down the ones you have now by about 2mm. I, and several others I know, had lots of squeaking, knocking, etc., and after the fix I have absolutely no noise coming from the back of my car.

Sometimes these squeaks are a simple result due to cold weather - I get them on my lude during december and december only. Who knows though.
