Damm CA Smog

I just need to vent because it is going to cost me around $300 to smog my car because I believe my CAT is bad. I took it to a smog only, and yeah it failed bad. I should have had my buddy test it first, so that was dumb. Now I have to pay someone to inspect the car and tell me that the CAT is bad. Then I am going to get a Random Tech CAT. The I have to smog again and pass. I sure hope I get some more horsepower out of it because of the hassle I have to go through. Anyone else know of any good CATs because the Random Tech will cost me around 180 and no one seems to rebuild CATs anymore?
