D2R or D2S Bulbs with HID Kit?

For HID kits on our 4th gen ludes, do you recommend kits with D2R or D2S bulbs?

Also, which HID brand kit do you recommend overall (quality, doesn't blind oncoming traffic, great road lighting, color, etc.)? The only kits i've heard of the Philips kit, the Vision 6000K kit, and a Hanabi 6000K kit. Thanks for the help.

Philips will produce the largest amount of light output, but may have some yellow in the housings until the bulbs burn in.

Vision and K2 you can get in white or purple, they look very good right out of the box, the white is about the same brightness as the philips but has no yellow in it. The purple one looks very cool, but is not as bright as the white K2 or the Philips.

Avoid any bulb with a color coating on it. K2 kits $425 and free shipping on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...909584&r=0&t=0

What about Philips kits that use D2R bulbs (the bulbs with coating on the tip of the bulbs)? Meaning, will these still produce the largest amount of light output? Shouldn't we use HID kits with D2R bulbs since our stock bulbs also have the coating on the tip?

Many people, including myself believe that D2S bulbs will work best in most applications. From what I've heard (not sure if this is fact) the D2R was built to cater to the needs of Mercedes-Benz and their classic style relfector headlamp housings.

D2R is listed as slightly lower lumen output then D2S. The people who have one of each generally say that the difference is very tiny.

Personally, I own some D2R bulbs from Philips and they have worked out well for me. I think either way you go you will be okay. D2R or D2S.
