CV Axle Replacement

My CV Axles are shot and I need to replace them. Im going to buy them from autozone on thursday. I was wondering if anyone could give me some directions on how to replace them. I have a 1994 Honda Prelude S. Thank you in advance

It's easy!

First, only replace 1 at a time. I think the passenger side is easier, so i would do it first. Take of your passenger side tire with the car supported using jack stands and other safety measures. Safety is key here! Empty your transmission fluid first. It's a little bolt near the bottom passender side of the transmission, I think it's 17mm. Once you do that, you can take off the bolt on the underside of the wheel (the balljoing at the bottom) - it has a cotter pin in it. Then you seperate that. Then you take off the bottom bolt holding the shock tower in there. Now you would be able to pull the brake disc/hub towards you and pull out the axle. I'll post some of the helms on how to do it. It's fairly simple once you do it once. Get a pitman arm puller (the small one I think) from autozone, they work wonders trying to get your balljoing undone. The driver side is the same way, except there is an intermediate shaft that the axle goes into, sometimes it's a pain to get it out of there, sometimes it just comes out.

oh, i forgot a part up top...you have to take off the wheel nut. Good luck with that! take it by express oil or something and just get them to blast it off and then tighten it back just enough for you to get back home

I would drive to prattville, but I have work early tomorrow and have to be productive. It's easy - take your time and have fun.

that should work. it looks a little confusing once you are down there looking at it, but it's not too bad

Well,i began
went actually really easy haha
i followed what you said and it all fit in pretty well, borrowed an impact wrench from o rileys (which btw have the best priced axles) and well,i checked the driver side's and it was fine, but i still replaced it,but when i checked the passengers is where i found my vibration problems, the boot well, was torn to shreds,i never really thought to check it,but yeah haha it was gone,so now my lude drives smooth

another thing i'v fixed on this car since i bought it in the shape it was in

Next is the Heater,ac,radiator fan, bumper, rear passenger quarter panel, carpet, passanger door

few more things, and it will be set
the lude looks good tho, just a few more things till i have it in good shape

Luckily the owner before me dropped the H-22a in it for me,so i missed out on all that fun,but i'm finding alot of the stuff jarry rigged i'm slowly replaceing, wish meh luck =D
