custom interior thoughts... help me out

ok.. im looking into custom interior, i want to paint my dash and give it a smooth highgloss look with autometer gauges all molded nicely into the area infront of the passenger, so here is my questions:

1. anyone done this here?
2. i have seen it done on a few civics, they used fiberglass and about 400-500 hours of sanding, is there a easier way
3. whatkinda prep would have to be done to get a industrial fill primier to stick to the dash board of a 4th gen... then i could sand the primer smooth as it will fill in all the little ripples ect in a 4th gen dash, this is seeming in to be the best idea yet, butim owrried about getting the primer to ahear to the dash.

thanks for any help... im starting ot rip the interior apart this week, ill take pivcs of the progress.... hehehe show season is 3 month away... gotta get working on the car... hehehe

Bill

You won't be the only person with it on a 4th gen:

I've already started doing my interior smooth, plus all you need to do is use primer. Just prime, sand, prime, sand, etc. until the surface is smooth and then paint it and clear it.

the glare from the top of the dash onto the windshield already pisses me off enough. i'd hate to deal with the glare of a polished dash.

I use Plasticote Sandable Primer. It took me probably 20-25 hours just to do the door panel!! And thanks for the compliment!

BTW, it is painted that same metallic black color as the outside of the car.

No crap. First time I protected my vinyl, I thought I cracked my windshield. Big line all the way across

Thanks Glitch, I got my SEMs at a local paint mixing supply. try a authorized HOUSE OF KOLOR dealer they usually have it, and yes LoudLude I did use SEM on all my plastic parts, works the same and it came out nice
