Custom CAI..

Ok, im too damn cheap to go buy a AEM CAI, so im gonna make my own to the style of the AEM. Anyone else ever done this? What are some things that I should be look out for? Is wider better for an intake, or doesn't it matter? I haven't looked yet..but are there sensors or other components in the intake that i need to take into consideration? Take a look at this piping I found on J C Whitney.com,

Here

Would this work, if there was a decent diameter? Thanks guys.

Steve

just buy a cheap one off ebay, same thing, they take an AEM pipe and make a mold and voila they have the same intake for 1/4 the price.

here is my cheap INTAKE. Screw AEM

Just got a cheap ractive intake pipe,K&N cone filter [dont use the ractive filter cuz its crap] and 3 " DynoMax Exhaust U, this has to be cut in the middle. Can do 2 intakes, and some 3" Silicone house. 20 dollars canadian for 1 foot of this stuff from a Heavy Duty Truck Store. and some SS Clamps.

a site to awnswer ur question, looks like about 2-3 hours of work if u have all the parts, i would recomend buy a cheap one off ebay use the filter they supply for about 12-30k miles and then buy a K&N and if u realy want a true AEM replica go buy some cearmic based paint abd paint the intake. it will be better than AEM

EDIT: opps here ya go http://www.teamdelsol.com/howto/coldair/diycoldair.htm
