Custom 2.5" NA exhaust question... noise

I had a flowmaster 40 series deltaflow on my SI (before swap below) It has stock worn out cat and headers... 2.25" custom piping from cat back... it was a little too loud but would have been good with an additional resonator. It is a nice sound though.

I just got a JDM H22A/LSD swap for my 92 SI. I have ceramic 4-2-1 headers, a custom 2.5" exhaust, magnaflow high flow metal substrate cat, NO RESONATOR, and a Nopi titanium muffler with silencer. The muffler is similar to an apexi N1 from what I can tell. It is loud as hell without the silencer and tolerable with... but I was thinking a little quieter would be good... so

How much difference will a resonator make on this setup (14-18")?

Will it make the exhaust sound raspy or will it maintain a nice sound?

any additional advice would be great.

Thanks!

I had a smaller resonator put on mine and it made a good bit of difference. I have gone back to stock since then. I am thinking about the swap you got - how is the motor, tranny, etc?

Everything seems good so far; I have only been driving it for about 600 miles and it may be using a little oil (may have been using synthetic in Japan, so I think I might go royal purple... for some reason I had them put Castrol GTX in it that I had sitting at the house). Leak down and compression tests were good, and no problems with the LSD... Hope it stays that way!

bumping my thread in hopes of some advice (I thought that was the concept here)

I like my magnaflow high flow cat, and you can get great deals on magnaflow products at hottexhaust.com; I was thinking if I get a simple straight though one chamber resonator I would use one of theirs... Is it better to get the stainless steel or the aluminized steel? I assume stainless will last better?

Are there other brands I should consider (moroso spiral flow), or even a glasspack straight though muffler to get more reduction in sound than the magnaflow will give?
