Hi, last time I went on a road trip, I turn on my cruise control, but the speed does not stick. The cruise control light was on when I set it, but the trap speed does not stay, the car still slowing down. Can anyone give me suggestion where to check? or is my cruise control busted? I am not so good with car. Oh yeah I got a 95 prelude.
you gotta press one of the buttons on the steering wheel to set the speed. I think its the bottom one. Then just use the top one to accelerate or the bottom one to decelerate
Thanks for replying, I might just check the fuse tomorrow and see if it's burned. Oh yeah, the cruise control light only turn on when I press the set button. I pretty sure it's on, since I also set my gf accord the same way. Do I have to drive more than certain speed to turn on the cruise? Sorry for not so informative.
ya that used to happen on mine too, like, every once in a while i'd hit the set button, 'cruise control' would light up on the dash, and it'd slow down, but now it works for some reason ? might be a short, or a fuse , or an act of god hehe
Mine doesnt work either but I own a JDM Prelude ... apparently cruise control will not work above 60mph unless you have the speed limiter removed. Perhaps this is the same for USDM Preludes.
my cruise control work up to 100..anyways, go into your engine bay..double check to see that all the vacumn lines are hooked up to the CC unit, its located on the drivers side, right by the PS resevior, follow the lines coming in and out, make sure none of them have come off..peace
I will try that, I was kinda busy with work and school. I will wash my car today, and check on it while I am at it. Change my oil tomorrow (3000 miles is up) . Hope I can get it working for my next summer road trip. Thanks guys

That defeats the purpose of it. I use mine when I have to drive to vegas. Just set it at about 85 and keep the car between the lines.

It does defeat the purpose .... but in the case of 4th Gen JDM Preludes .... its a fact. Theres 112mph top speed limiter and a 60mph limit on cruise control. USDM ludes may also have a cruise limiter but Im not sure at what speed its set to. What I can say with certainty is that its pretty easy to get around this problem.
Heres how I understand it .... basically the ECU determines and enforces these limits. Now the ECU (and speedo) measure the speed of the car using electronic pulses sent from the gearbox. You cab buy a device (£50/$75) that intercepts these pulses and havles there frequency and so fools the ecu into reading a speed of 50mph when in fact your doing 100mph. This thereby raises the speed limiter to 224mph on a JDM lude (nice idea I know!).
If you search the web for 'speed delimiter' Im sure you'll find a place that sells these devices.
