Crower h23 valve train question

So I am going to do the crower cams and retainers, but I have a few questions first. Dissatisfied with the power the car makes, aftermarket support, and my crazy loud valve train, I have decided to just build my head with Crower equipment and a good port/polish. I have aquired a spare head, intake manifold, and a new ecu (I have a 96 w obdII, so I assume it will need to be reflashed.
Question 1: If i get the stage 1 cams, would getting the springs and retainers also be a bad thing. They are sugested for stage 2 and 3.

Question 2: Any good suggestions on a place to send my IM and head for a good port and polish as well as a port match?

Question 3: Should I use JET for the ecu reflash? Or another place?

I want a stealthy setup that I can easily switch out when I need to get smog (california grrrrr). Hence my purchase of all the extra equipment. ANy suggestions would be very helpful, and would help to get a crower h23 guinea pig on the road. Thanks folks----Jeremy

#1 - Yes, using the stiffer springs unnecessarily will make you lose horsepower from the rotating assembly having to lift the stiffer springs. It will also increase the wear on the camshafts, from the extra pressure.

#2 - Portflow, Extrude Hone, etc.

#3 - No, get a Hondata/AEM EMS setup and get it tuned on a wideband.

Ok first of all If your going to spend money on cams, why get stage ones. You can get 2 or 3 and run just as reliably with tuning. And if your going to PnP your head and port match the intake manifold, I think stage 1 is a waste of money.

Hondata can be done, but I don't want to do the Ems. Costs too much money and is conspicuously ILLEGAL where I live. Remember this is a California setup. I agree with the stage 2 or three though. I just want it to run and idle smoothly.

you'll definitely get a rough idle with stage 3's, and probably won't have a stock idle with 2's.

It already sounds rough as he$$, so maybe stage 2 won't be that bad. Funny thing is the car runs like a champ and has great compression. I am just the posterboy for the loud h23 valve train. As long as it idles above 850, I think it will be fine. The fuel tuning is a concern though. If memory serves, stock h22 injectors are 250cc/min. If those fit (I am not sure), that would be good. Then the chipped ecu. Maybe an SAFC?
