Crower Cams/Rods/Retainers for H23A1 Si's?

Does anyone know or has built up the H23A1 NA?? I'm thinking of doing this but was wondering how rough the idle is and the sort... Does Crower make aftermarket camshafts for H23A or only H22A?? What would one need to do to build up their H23? Guys, lemme know what you all think!!

Even though i might be going FI in the future, having a built H23A would be perfect setup to go turbo.

Opinions, Comments, suggestions ?!

You should decide FI or N/A now... It will really affect how/what you build.

For FI your better off building a strong bottom end with low compression. For N/A your building off building a more agressive top end, running higher compression and not worrying about the bottom end until you finish everything else.

As for the build, Id like to build my h23 too. Apparantely JG makes (or made) some Cams for the h23 which yeilding outstanding gains. You might want to call them, cause I heard this from a secondary source. I also know that Gude offers an h23 head package, so they may also do cams. If neither there is always the option of getting a custom regrind (read: webcam).

I dont know about crower or anyone else, but keep us posted as you get information.

blah

I wouldn't buy anything from crower, and just our luck they don't make anything for the h23a1 motor. Gude offers a complete head package, the also offer cams, bored t/b, port/polish, etc. JG also offers parts for our motors. My h23a1 has 90k miles and has:

aem cai
apexi n1 exhaust
test pipe
no p/s
no a/c
msd sci-l
msd blaster 2 coil
msd plug wires
bosche platinum plugs
gude racing cams
b&m fuel pressure regulator
b&m oil cooler

plus a ton of suspension upgrades, my car pulled a 14.5@98mph with the mods listed above, Skunk2 cam gears are comming soon and once those arrive the car is being dynoed and tuned.
Before you buy any internal componets for your prelude, decide if you want to go n/a or f/i ... these will GREATLY affect what you do to build you car. Hope this helps.

Re: blah

Hey Mike,
Im contemplating an N/A h23 buildup vs. and h22 buildup. I figure for the same cost as an h22 with I/H/E, I can buy an h23 with I/H/E plus a full head package, a slightly highercompression head gasket, and then maybe some cam gears, pulleys and maybe a nice clutch or flywheel.

After those mods (whether I go h22 or h23), everything else i do to the car will be suspension work. So which do you think would put down more power?

I know the h23 would have some kick as torque and low-mid power, but I dont know if the h22's high end (i.e. shorter stroke and vtec) would outweigh the h22.

What kind of times do you think the car can hit with each setup (given in a 4th gen si that is full interior and what not)? What kinda of Hp do you think each would put out? Which do you think would make a better race engine?

Thanks, Jordan

'bout how much for the P&P head with the race cams (basically the entire GUDE package...) how's the idle with that NA setup for higher compression? Thanks!
