Crank pulley fell off - Ugh!

I had my crank pulley fall off when driving (found out later some jacka$$ mech had stripped the threads inside the crank), and just wondered what kind of scary damage this could do while in motion (internal). I heard the valves I think, and shut off the engine at once . Sounded like it was low on oil (rockers?). No metal filings in oil so a good sign. Just wondering if the timing had been out of wack. I hope this would not cause the t-belt to skip.

thank for any input.
