Well, after losing all my oil I figured it would be a good thing to check everything out..

Alright finally got the damn girdle off..

Ok I am assuming this is normal wear for a 110k mile motor,

Crank main #2, kinda like the "control"

Here is #4

#5

Bearing # 4

Bearing # 5

Good thing I checked huh? Do you guys think the crank is OK, did I pull em soon enough?

If you didn't spin a bearing, then yes you pulled it soon enough. The problem with a scored / damaged cranksahft is that its worthless. You could have the mains smoothed down, and get the machine shop to order you the correct main bearings to then fit. After that, the cranksahft will need to be re-balanced.

It's a complicated process, and a touchy one. Do you take the risk and just put new main bearings in, or do you opt for a new cranksahft, or that one getting repaired and using a different size bearing.. thats up to you and your wallet.

In my opinion how ever, theres no such thing as a scored cranksahft being "alright to re-use." You could do it, I have done it before, with no problems ever again.. and I've seen people do it who immediatly spun fresh bearings and bent rods, and shot shrapnal through the oil pan, or out the hood of their vehicle when the engine blew.
