cracked radiator

i found a crack in my radiator near the top, radiator is made of plastic huh? wtf. So anyway, I wanna fix it myself so I can learn more about cars, need some tips..


Oh yeah, I wanna flush it and fillit back up n stuff too... LEARN ME GUYS.

Re: cracked radiator

Oh it its a crack about 1 to 1.5inches long, its not busted open or nothing, but radiator fluid is leaking from it when I drive.

Ya but isn't JB weld intended for metal? Epoxy is like superglue, once it sets up...

Just replace it....

You might try getting a soldering gun and melting it like you were welding it.... maybe

replace it , its easy
my friend did mine, it only took like an hour , 2 at tops

I got the same problem. ANy welding or soldering won't work because it's plastic. Mine actually has plugged itself up again and seems fine but from what I've heard, a fiberglass patch may work.

My rad did the same thing when my engine was farked, Im replacing it cause ghetto = CHEAP LOOKING. Why patch when you can do it right the first time...

you don't need a brand new radiator. I think a radiator shop could replace the endtank.

but I would replace it.

also you better change your thermostat. usually the reason why your endtank cracked is because your thermostat failed.

P2W and I changed out my radiator, its no big deal at all, but I got mine for free from him. So go to a junk yard and see if they have one.

I would buy a new one and replace it yourself. I just got one from Hawkes in Mesa with a lifetime warranty for $156. Nice to know I won't have to pay to fix this ever again.

1+ hours to replace a radiator? that must include draining, refilling and bleeding the system hehe
