Couple Problems. need advice.

Alright so i bought a new fuel filter among some other things i would usually change on a used car that i just bought..

Everything was fine getting the left most bolt undone, then i attempted the right one. It is really really tight. Like it got loc tite'd there. Anyway so im trying my hardest to get this thing off and i eventually strip most of it. So im not really sure what to do at this point. Is it possible to just get a new bolt and have someone weld it(or whatever they would do here) onto the existing metal? Or do I have to replace the whole line?

My other problem. I had this problem since i bought the car.

It smokes every time i start it only for about 10-15 secs or sometimes just a puff. Its a blueish/white color, and I burn more oil than i should. I took it to my mechanic and he did a valve adjustment and found out that the people before me didnt do the adjustment right and I was only running on 3 cycls. So i thought maybe that was the problem, but it is still happening.. Hopefully its just the valve stem seals, and not a cracked head or Piston rings..

Any Ideas?

Oh yeah its a 1995 Prelude SI MT

thanks a lot

I don't remember how our fuel filter is setup, be I'm pretty sure if you strip the bolt you can just get a new one, not too sure what welding you're talking about. If you got an OEM fuel filter, it should already come with new bolts (I think, did it about 2 years ago, or did it only come with washers?). If you have room, take a dremel and cut the edge of the bolt so you can try to take it off again with a wrench.

As for your engine problem, first get a compression test (both wet and dry test). When you're accelerating from a stop light, do you blow smoke? Or is in only when you're starting the engine. I'm thinking that it's the valve stem seals as well.

Well the vice grips is definately on the list, but its at the bottom.

The OEM Filter just came with 3 washers. The part i stripped is the bolt that goes into the top of the filter on a metal gas line. Im thinkin about just ordering a new bolt some how and then cutting the existing tube and flaring a new bolt on it.

The smoking: well i got a compression test when i got my valve adjustment it was 175,160,200,200

160 was on the cyclinder that was stuck open and didnt fire, it should be better now.

It only blows smoke when i start it, and once it blew smoke for a good 5 mins when i had left the cruise control on , but was idling.

Thanks
