Couldn't go into 1st gear! Clutch wearing out?

Is it my clutch wearing out, or it is my transmission failing? It happens all the time for like couple months. It doesn't go in smoothly, and my hand is having a hard time to push it in.

PS: anyone knows why 4th gen's steering wheel rattle so much? I heard that a lot. Mine was solved after resurfaced the front disc when i change my brake pads, but it came back! and it is getting WORSE!!

sigh... my car is getting old...

it might be the clutch. I might simply be a leaky Clutch Master/Slave cylinder. Check for leaks on the fire wall around the clutch pedal, both inside the car and under the hood. Also on the front of the engine is your slave cylinder. Check there too. If there is any fresh fluid in those spots, then you'll want to fix that.

Oh and make sure the clutch reservoir is full.

And stop trying to force your transmission in gear. You'll damage it that way.

my car does it once in a while when I try to put it in first. If I put it in a different gear then try to put it in first again it will usually go in with no problem.

1st & reverse are related, so if you have trouble going into 1st, go into reverse first, or have trouble getting into reverse try 1st then reverse.

thanks guys, I will try to check for any leak. I've never really force it into gear, because it will just like the gears are frozen and couldn't move into at all. I've tried onece that no gear will go in, and finally I tried 4th and reverse couple times, and it worked.

And yea, evertime when I approach to a stop, I hold the stick and ready to shife to first. Thatz the only way to shift into first flawlessly for me. Also, I forgot to mention that, my clutch is extremely hard to step on, which is different from other cars. I've also tried to adjust the pedal to softer, but one time it won't come back up, and I have to manually make it back up. The hardness of my clutch is possible an aftermarket clutch? Or just a leak occured? No shops have able to tell me if i got an aftermarket clutch yet.

If your pedal doesn't come back up, that's a pretty solid sign that you have issues with the hydraulics. Clutch master/slave gone bad.

I had something like this a while ago.... I ended up changing my clutch fluid and its fine now. Something easy and cheap to try before you really get into it.

Good Luck
